ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Bucknell employed runs at the end of the second quarter and the beginning of the third to pull away from the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team Thursday night at the Reilly Center, 77-46.
The Bonnies (2-5) and Bison (6-2) battled through a defensive struggle in the first half with the hosts ultimately pulling ahead, 12-11, as the second quarter got underway.
Dajah Logan delivered a layup to begin the starting in the second quarter for a 14-11 advantage, but a Kyi English three-pointer started an 8-0 run for the Bison.
Bona got within two at 22-20 following the first of a pair of second quarter treys off the fingertips of freshman Carrie Jornlin with five minutes before the half. Another 14-3 break from the visitors helped Bucknell to a 36-24 lead at the break, however, as the tide of the game turned.
Bucknell then broke the game wide open when it began the third quarter with a 17-2 run. From there, the favorites in the Patriot League never relinquished control.
Claudia Del Moral finished with five points and six rebounds for the Bonnies.
Bucknell had four players in double-figure scoring, led by Ally Johnson's 14 points.
The Bonnies return to action Wednesday, Dec. 5 at Akron. That game is a special Kids Day start of 10:30 a.m. in the Buckeye State.
