NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – St. Bonaventure women's basketball freshman Asianae Johnson has earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors, conference officials announced Monday.
Johnson, a Brooklyn, N.Y. native, averaged 14.5 points, four rebounds and one assist per game in two contests for the Bonnies last week.
The freshman guard tallied 13 points, six rebounds and two steals in a 100-94 triple overtime victory against Canisius on Nov. 13, playing a career-high 43 minutes. Her 13 points tied a career-high set against Niagara in the Bonnies season opener on Nov. 6.
Against Hofstra last Saturday, Johnson set a new career-high with 16 points, shooting 7-for-10 from the field to lead all Bona scorers. She added two rebounds and two assists for the Bonnies.
Through four games of her collegiate career, Johnson is averaging 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game and is shooting 47.6 percent from the field.
Last week she was also named to the A-10 Weekly Honor Roll.
The Bonnies are back in action Friday and Saturday in Colorado for the Denver Thanksgiving Classic for games against Ohio and host Denver.
