ANNAPOLIS, MD – Cold shooting and a slow start created an early hole the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team could not climb out of as host Navy captured its home tournament championship, 86-48, Sunday afternoon at Alumni Hall in the Navy Classic title game.

Junior Mckenna Maycock again led the way for St. Bonaventure, which now stands at 4-3 overall on the season. Maycock posted 15 points and seven rebounds, leading the team in both categories. Sophomore Danielle Migliore added seven points and three steals and junior Bree Paulson also totaled six points and three steals.

The Mids moved to a perfect 6-0 on the year after a flying start and tremendous first half of play to seize complete control. St. Bonaventure started slow as the Bonnies did not register a field goal until the 3:29 mark of the first quarter after Navy started the game on a 15-2 break.

Bona got the deficit down to 24-14 with 6:10 left in the half, but the Mids embarked on a 13-1 run to ultimately take a 42-19 advantage to halftime.

From there Navy, the runners-up in the Patriot League and a squad that reached the second round of the WNIT a season ago, never looked back.

The Bonnies entered the day averaging nearly 67 points per game on the season while allowing 58 to opponents, but neither of those numbers held true on Sunday. St. Bonaventure shot just 25.5 percent (14-for-55) from the floor for the day while Navy connected to the tune of 49 percent (31-of-63). Turnovers were a root cause of much of the problems – St. Bonaventure committed 22 turnovers which resulted in 24 points of offense on the other end for the hosts.

Morgan Taylor led all scorers by pouring in 24 points and six rebounds off the bench for the Mids. Taylor Dunham posted 12 points as well.

Next up is a return back home as the Bonnies will host Delaware inside the Reilly Center Wednesday night with tipoff slated for 7 p.m.
