ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University senior Katie Healy has earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team as well as on the conference's All-Academic Team, officials announced Tuesday.
The Lancaster, N.Y. native leads the Bonnies in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounds (7.1 rpg), blocks (45) and field goal percentage (50.6 percent) while also adding 3.0 assists per game. Healy is the only player in the Atlantic 10 this season to rank among the conference's top 15 in all of those categories.
Healy has posted double-figure scoring in 22 of 27 games played this season including 14 of the last 15 contests of the regular season. She has often saved her best for the toughest competition – she tallied 24 points in a win over George Washington on Feb. 17 and registered 16 points with seven rebounds in a victory over Duquesne on Sunday. In all, she has surpassed 15 points in 13 games on the year.
The Atlantic 10's active scoring leader, she is one of two players in program history with 1,600 points and 800 career rebounds. She stands as the program's all-time leader in blocks and is also third in rebounds and fourth in scoring.
Also a standout in the classroom with a 3.46 cumulative GPA, she is a marketing major who will graduate this semester while concurrently working on her MBA. She was previously named to the CoSIDA District 1 All-Academic Team last month.
The Bonnies (23-6, 12-4 Atlantic 10) are the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship. St. Bonaventure will play Friday at 2 p.m. in Richmond against an opponent to be determined.
