ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University sophomore guard Mariah Ruff has been named American Sports Network Women's Basketball Player of the Week, officials announced Monday.
Ruff averaged 19.5 points and 10.0 rebounds this past week, including her first career double-double in a win over Atlantic 10 leader Duquesne on Sunday.
In Sunday's 60-48 win on Senior Day at the Reilly Center, Ruff led all scorers with 18 points along with a career high 13 rebounds as well as four assists. The Oneonta, N.Y. native sank a season-high five three-pointers including a key trey with 2:09 remaining, effectively ending a Dukes run that had pulled the game within five after the Bonnies stretched out a 20-point first half cushion.
At Fordham on Wednesday, Ruff netted a season-best 21 points as well as what was then a season-best seven rebounds.
Over the final four games of the regular season, Ruff averaged 17.5 points per contest.
Sunday's win gave the Bonnies a perfect 16-0 record at the Reilly Center this season, the first undefeated home campaign in program history.
St. Bonaventure (23-6, 12-4 Atlantic 10) has earned the No. 4 seed at the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Bonnies will play Friday, March 4 and await the winner of fifth-seeded VCU and the winner of Davidson vs. Richmond.
