ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Kelcie Rombach of the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team has been selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 14th annual "So You Want To Be A Coach" program held April 1-3 in Indianapolis.
Each member of the program will participate in a three-day workshop to increase the understanding and application of skills necessary to secure coaching positions in women's basketball. The main objective of the program is to assist female college basketball players who are interested in pursuing a career in coaching women's basketball by increasing their awareness of the skills and competencies required to secure a coaching position.
Participants are chosen based on their academics, contributions to women's basketball on and off the court, professional resume and a written recommendation from their head coach.
"Kelcie has been a perfect example of what we want the student-athletes in our program to be," St. Bonaventure head coach Jim Crowley said. "She has done all that has been asked of her and always puts the team first. She has a true knowledge of the game, and the work ethic and drive to be a special coach."
The workshop also enables coaching candidates to network with women's basketball coaches and administrators and acquire a sense of the existing talent pool of women's basketball players who are interested in pursuing coaching opportunities.
Rombach, along with fellow classmates Katie Healy, Emily Michael and Nyla Rueter, will be honored this Sunday at Senior Day when the Bonnies host their final home game of the season at 1 p.m. vs. Duquesne.
