Strong First Half Leads To @BonniesWBB Victory Over Detroit, 68-56

The Short Story:
A strong first half performance by the St. Bonaventure women's basketball team led to a 12-point victory over the Detroit Titans on Saturday, Nov. 22. The redshirt sophomore forward, Gabby Richmond, led the Bonnies with 12 points, while junior forward Hannah Little had a team-high nine boards.

How It Happened:

  • Katie Healy began the game by winning the tip and then scoring the first basket for the squad.
  • St. Bonaventure went on the first run of the game at the 12:39 mark, scoring 16 points to Detroit's two.
  • Ashley Zahn had 11 of the 16 points in the run by the Bonnies. Zahn knocked down three three-point shots and one pull-up jumper from the free-throw line.
  • The Brown and White's defense was tough to break in the first half, forcing four turnovers and allowed the Titans to shoot just 8-25 (32.0%). 12 of their 25 shots were from beyond the arc.
  • Coming out of the half, Detroit went on a 13-2 run. It forced four turnovers on the Bonnies during its run.
  • Gabby Richmond and Hannah Little led the Bonnies in the final 20 minutes as they combined for 16 points in the half. The two scored the first 14-points of St. Bonaventure's 16 points.
  • Sloppy play plagued the Bonnies in the second half, turning the ball over a total of 13 times. Detroit went on to convert 14 points off turnovers in the half.
  • St. Bonaventure closed out its victory by going 10-10 from the line in the last four minutes of the game. 

Beyond The Box Score:

  • The 38 points that the Bonnies scored in the first half were the most by the team since February 8, 2014 at UMass. SBU scored 44 that day.
  • The Bonnies had three players to score in double-digits: Gabby Richmond (12), Ashley Zahn (11) and Hannah Little (10).
  • Little was one rebound shy of her first double-double of the season. No SBU player has registered a double-double this season.
  • St. Bonaventure led for 35:39 minutes, while Detroit only held the lead for just 87 seconds.
  • Nine of out 10 players for the Bonnies recorded a rebound.
  • Eight of ten players scored for the Brown and White.
  • A strong performance at the free-throw line by St. Bonaventure as it went 15-17 (88.2%) for the game.
  • After shooting 5-8 from behind the arc in the first half, St. Bona didn't attempt a single three-point shot in the second.
