Bonnies Turn in Multiple PRs in First 8K Event of Season

AMHERST, N.Y. – Senior William Delaney paced the St. Bonaventure men's cross country team with a 12th place finish out of 59 runners Friday morning at the Buffalo Stampede Invitational held at Audubon Golf Course.

Delaney took advantage of the outstanding conditions – temperatures in the low 70s and a light breeze – to run his PR 8K time of 26:23.8. His previous personal best came last year at the Anderson Invitational in Rochester when he finished in 26:37.

Junior Ryan Chmiel placed second on the squad with his run of 27:28.3, just missing his personal record set last year of 27:27.9. Chmiel crossed the stripe in 27th overall.

A trio of freshmen were in the scoring for the Bonnies – Hayden Barry (27:43.4), Darion Gregory (27:47.7) and Christian Riethmiller (27:55.7). Junior Jack Boltman also registered a PR at 28:03.7.

In all, six upperclassmen turned in PR times.

The Bonnies return to action next Saturday, Sept. 21 when they head to the Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
