BUFFALO – The St. Bonaventure men's cross country team opened the 2019 season by finishing second at the Little Three Championship Friday evening at Delaware Park.

The Bonnies posted 51 team points, coming behind host Canisius which captured the crown with 15 points. Niagara finished third with 80 points.

Nathan Prisella led the Bonnies by taking sixth overall. He ran a personal best 5K time of 16:06.4 – that mark will rank second all-time in individual program history behind only William Delaney's 15:53 at last year's event.

Delaney, meanwhile, gave the Bonnies their second top finisher as he crossed the finish line in 16:28.3, 12th overall.

Ryan Chmiel was third on the team and 16th overall as he posted an effort of 16:58.6.

Newcomer Hayden Barry made his Bonnies debut by finishing in the scoring with his run of 16:59.5, just off the program's individual top-15 list. Another freshman, Christian Riethmiller placed fifth on the team with his finishing time of 17:04.8.

The team's top seven also included a third freshman – Darion Gregory (17:07.5) and junior Jack Boltman (17:13.9).

Next up for the Bonnies is another trip to Buffalo for the Stampede Invitational Sept. 13.
