ROCHESTER – Junior William Delaney paced the St. Bonaventure men's cross country team Saturday at the Harry Anderson Invitational, but it was a crop of underclassmen runners that keyed the team to a solid fourth-place finish in the 21-team field.

Delaney turned in yet another solid run, again guiding the squad with a 15th-place effort in a crop of 233 runners. The third-year Bonnie registered an 8K time of 26:37 – good for a personal record and 11 seconds better than his previous best 8K mark of 26:48 which he turned in as a freshman.

Behind him, the next four runners in the Bona scoring were all freshmen or sophomores.

Sophomore Nathan Prisella also ran his best 8K with an effort of 27:09.2, besting his previous PR of 27:32.6 set a year ago at the Gettysburg Invitational. Prisella finished 27th overall while freshman teammate Logan Caruso checked in at 38th across the finish line with a run of 27:23.4.

Another sophomore was next in line for the Brown and White as Ryan Chmiel finished with a time of 27:27.9, just in front of freshman Jack Duncanson who timed in at 27:32.3. Chmiel also easy surpassed his previous PR time of 28:34.

Displacers for the Bonnies were senior George Laraia and junior Kyle Haller who each ran PR times of 27:45.2 and 28:19.1 respectively.

It was a great day for improvement in the Bonnies camp. In all, 10 returning members of the Bonnies roster ran their 8K PRs – Mark Vaccaro, Daniel Janak, Luke Gobel, Ryan Signorino and Isaiah Callahan all also posted their best marks as part of the program while the freshmen on the team were running their first true collegiate 8K.

The Bonnies are back in action Oct. 6 for the Race in the Park in Erie.
