All summer, Will Delaney had the goal posted in his room so he was forced to confront it every single day. It wasn't just any goal, either. It was setting the St. Bonaventure school record in the 5K.
There's only one real chance to set the 5K record – at the annual Little Three Championships, which typically kicks off the cross country season for Bona, Canisius, and Niagara. The rest of the season, Delaney and the rest of the men are running 8Ks and 10Ks.
With one shot at the record, Delaney came through. The junior from Summit, N.J., ran 15:53 for the first sub-16 minutes 5K in Bona history.
