Men's Cross Country Takes Fifth at Anderson Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Freshman Mason Kimbell finished 10th to lead the St. Bonaventure University men's cross country team to a fifth place finish Saturday afternoon at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational.

The Bonnies had a solid day, placing fifth overall out of a field of 19 teams. Gannon took the overall victory with 45 team points while host Roberts Wesleyan was second (52), Geneseo third (65), Cortland fourth (99) and St. Bonaventure fifth with 137 points.

Kimbell ran his best collegiate 8K time with a mark of 27:13.2 and was the top-finishing freshman in the event that included 183 total runners. Kimbell ran a mile pace of 5:29 and showed the way for the Bonnies for the second straight week.

Fellow freshman Nathan Prisella finished 21st overall at 27:40.7 and was the second-highest finishing freshman in the field.

Senior Levi Malone had a day to remember as well, taking his best 8K time with a mark of 28:11.6 to finish 33rd overall. The senior captain has turned in a PR time in each of the season's first three events.

Sophomore Donavan Lowe (28:41.6) and freshman Jack Boltman (28:46.1) were neck-and-neck in the running, taking 43rd and 44th respectively. For Lowe, his time was also a personal best.

The battle for scoring positions on the team was fierce as freshman Ryan Chmiel clocked in at 28:55.7 and sophomore Mark Vaccaro crossed the finish line in 29:23.9.

Freshmen Daniel Janak (29:31.0) and Luke Gobel (30:12.9) also ran personal bests.

St. Bonaventure was running without sophomore William Delaney, the team's leading runner, who missed the race due to injury.

The Bonnies are back in action Oct. 14 at the Gettysburg Invitational.
