Bonnies Men's Cross Country/Track Welcomes Four NLI Signees

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University cross country/track head coach Bob MacFarlane has announced the addition of four student-athletes – Jack Boltman, Ryan Chmiel, Mason Kimbell and Jacob Osswald – with the signing of National Letters of Intent to join the men's program for the fall of 2017.

"I expect that we'll have several of our incoming freshmen making an impact on our team right away," MacFarlane said. "They are leaders, smart, and a hardworking group. I'm confident that they will be a solid class academically and athletically for the next four years. I can't wait to see how they develop during their time at Bonaventure."

All four athletes will be a part of both the cross country and newly formed Bonnies track teams.

Boltman, a native of Manlius, N.Y., has a personal best 5K time of 16:11 and ran at the Nike Cross Nationals New York Regional. He will graduate from Fayetteville-Manlius High School.

Chmiel helped St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute win the All-Catholics crown five years in a row and earned a spot in the New York Federation meet twice during his high school career. A native of East Amherst, N.Y., he also qualified for Foot Locker Regionals.

Kimbell comes to St. Bonaventure from Berwick Area High in Pennsylvania and finished 16th at the Pennsylvania Foundation Invitational with a personal best time of 16:18. He also finished second at the Wyoming Valley Conference Championship Meet and is a two-time PIAA state qualifier. He was named an AP Scholar with distinction in the classroom and medaled at the PIAA District II meet twice.

A native of Buffalo, Osswald finished sixth at this year's Section VI Class C cross country championships and was a First Team Erie County Interscholastic Conference (ECIC) selection. He will graduate from Cleveland Hill High School.

The Bonnies will graduate just one runner of this year's men's roster. This spring will mark the inaugural season of competition for the track program.

"Our goal was to add a select few to the roster this year that we felt would be a great fit," MacFarlane said. "We are very pleased with this group and look forward to adding them to a core of good runners of returning athletes."
