GETTYSBURG, Pa. – St. Bonaventure freshmen William Delaney and Devan Cavanaugh paced the Bonnies men's cross country team as part of an 11th-place finish out of 26 teams competing at Saturday's Gettysburg Invitational.
Bona registered a team score of 311. Salisbury won the meet with a score of 51.
As he has in every event this season, Delaney led the Bonnies with his 8K time of 27:23.6, good enough for 41st in a field of 267 runners. Fellow freshman Cavanaugh was right on his heels, crossing the finish line less than two seconds later with his time of 27:25.3 to come within 10 seconds of his personal record. Cavanaugh's time placed him 44th overall.
Bona's veteran, senior captain Ben Collins was third on the team with a mark of 27:57.3 while Drew Bille and Caleb Johnson completed the team scoring with times of 28:47.1 and 28:50.1 respectively. For Johnson, it marked his best 8K time of the season.
Saturday's meet represented the final competition tune up for Atlantic 10 championships as the Bonnies will head for Richmond, Va., on Oct. 29 to compete in the conference meet.
