MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – The St. Bonaventure University men's cross country team finished 13th at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship meet held at Pole Green Park under perfect conditions on Saturday morning.
St. Joseph's won the team title with a score of 77 points. UMass (98), Davidson (103), La Salle (106) and George Mason (120) were the top five with Duquesne (156), Fordham (167), Saint Louis (179), Dayton (192) and Richmond (211) completing the first 10 teams. George Washington (216) was 11th with Rhode Island (405) 12th, St. Bonaventure (426) 13th and VCU (427) 14th.
Senior Joe Ferencik led the way for the Bonnies, running the 8K course in a time of 26:47.9 to finish 97th overall. That performance ranks sixth all-time in program history, giving Ferencik his third top 10 Bonnies 8K time this season.
Freshman Caleb Johnson followed close behind with a mark of 27:00.3 to finish 100th overall. Johnson also posted his second career Bonnies top 10 8K time with his run standing 10th in program history. Following Saturday's competition, six of the top 10 8K times for the Brown and White have been turned this fall.
Ben Collins crossed the finish line in 27:01.9 to take 102nd while senior Nick Konotopskyj was 117th at 27:50.0 and fellow senior Caleb Lecker rounded out the top five Bonnies finishes at 120th with a time of 28:17.4. Also competing for St. Bonaventure were Levi Malone (28:39.5), Justin Ryan (29:16.3), George Laraia (29:59.3) and Ethan Kibbe (30:29.0).
