GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The St. Bonaventure men and women's cross country teams return to action at Gettysburg College this Saturday to participate in the Gettysburg Invitational.
The women's race will be a 6k and will go off at 11 a.m. The men's race will be an 8k and will follow the women's race at Noon.
The 24th running of one of the Northeast's largest races will feature 41teams, 25 of which are Division III. St. Bonaventure will be one of two Division I teams in the race with Bucknell being the other. Malone University, winner of both races last year, will not be in the field this year. The race currently has 913 registered runners, making it the largest meet St. Bonaventure has participated in this year.
The Bonnies are coming off last-place finishes by both teams in the Mason Invitational two weeks ago at George Mason University. This marked each team's first last-place finish since Northeast Regionals last season.
Sophomore Nick Masiello, who was forced to drop out of the race with an injury, has been cleared to participate and will run Saturday. Sophomore Harley Thompson is coming off his first top finish for the Bonnies as he finished the 8k course in 27:49.
Freshman Kerry Caher led the way for the women for a second straight week with a time of 24:17.Sophomore Emily Steves has not been medically cleared to run and will miss a second consecutive race.
Next up for the Bonnies will be a trip to Philadelphia for the Atlantic 10 Championships Oct. 27.
