Cross Country To Compete at Mason Invitational

LEESBURG, Va.- The men and women's cross country teams will be traveling to George Mason to participate in the Mason Invitational. The race will be held at the Oatlands Plantation Course in Leesburg, Va. with the men's race scheduled for 10 a.m., and the women's race to immediately follow.

The Bonnies will be one of nine teams competing in the meet. Host George Mason took both the men's and women's race last year, but this year reigning Atlantic 10 Champion La Salle will be participating. A third A-10 school, George Washington, will also be competing.

The other teams competing include the University of the District of Columbia, James Madison University, Howard (women's team only), Mount St. Mary's, University of Maryland at Baltimore County and American University.

This meet will be the third of the year for the Bonnies but will mark the first time the women's team runs a 6k. The Bonnies will look to build off their 14- place finish at the National Catholic Championships at Notre Dame two weeks ago.In that race, three runners (freshman Kerry Caher, junior Kady Weisner and freshman Aubrie Russell) earned top 10 5k times in St. Bonaventure history.

The men's team will be running an 8k for the second consecutive meet. The Brown and White finished 27 of 36 teams in their first 8k at National Catholic Championships. Freshman Joe Ferencik ran the 10th fastest 8k time in St. Bonaventure history, while sophomore Nick Masiello nearly topped his second fastest time in school history.

Next up for the Bonnies will be a trip to Gettysburg, Pa. for an invitation Oct. 13.
