Cross country teams picked to finish 16th in Atlantic 10

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's and women's cross country teams have each been predicted to finish 16th in the Atlantic 10 in 2012, according to preseason voting conducted by the league's coaches.

Each of the SBU teams returns the bulk of their runners from last fall. Though both of coach Bob Macfarlane's rosters will still be littered with underclassmen this year, the returning Bonnies runners should benefit from the experience they gained in 2011.

Each of the 10 athletes who made up the men's team last fall is back in 2012. The 14-man roster features three juniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen.

This year's women's squad, meanwhile, includes five returning letterwinners, all of whom are now sophomores. Macfarlane also welcomes five newcomers to the fold.

Both La Salle's men's and women's teams have been picked to win Atlantic 10 titles in 2012. Both squads are defending conference champions.

The St. Bonaventure teams open their season by hosting the Little Three Invitational Aug. 31 at the SBU Golf Course. Competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
