AMHERST, Mass. – A pair of program records highlighted the Atlantic 10 Championships as the St. Bonaventure men's track team wrapped up the spring season at the conference meet.
Freshman Elias Kott, who has been climbing the program record books all spring, established a new program record in the 800 meters with his time of 2:00.24 on Saturday. That time not only shattered his previous best of 2:03.90 that was third in the Bona record books, he also topped the previous best time in program history of 2:01.85 set last year at A-10s by Ryan Chmiel by over a second.
Another Bonas freshman broke a program record on Sunday. Logan Caruso crossed the stripe in 15:47.43 in the 5000 meters with the fastest time in Bonaventure history. He surpassed the old record by over three seconds and absolutely demolished his previous PR of 16:13.54 set earlier this spring. Senior George Laraia finished his career by posting the fifth-best individual time in program history and easily his best in the event at 16:22.47.
Also in the 800, fellow freshman John Pullano ran a time of 2:02.62 – that bettered his previous PR by five seconds and is the third-fastest individual time in program history. Daniel Janak also set a personal best and is ninth in the program record books at 2:09.44.
In Saturday's 10K, a pair of Bonnies runners set personal records as Jacob Osswald ran the third-fastest individual time in program history at 34:13.89 while Luke Gobel still stands fifth, but bested his previous PR by over a minute with a run of 37:29.73.
Sunday in the 1500, three Bonnies set personal best times – Mark Vaccaro moves to third on the SBU record board with an effort of 4:19.91 while Kott just sneaked past his previous best time, ninth in program history at 4:25.31. John Pullano also PR'ed at 4:27.75.
