The St. Bonaventure men’s track team made history by competing in the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships for the first time this weekend on the campus of the University of Massachusetts.
St. Bonaventure junior Matthew Bacher’s fourth-place run in the 400-meter dash showed the way for the Bonnies men’s outdoor track team Tuesday afternoon at the Allegany County Classic held on campus at Houghton College.
The first event for the reborn St. Bonaventure outdoor track teams had to wait a day due to cold and rainy conditions, but the Bonnies turned in a day to remember on Sunday as the new programs saw their first action.
St. Bonaventure University student-athletes continued to shine in the classroom during the 2016 fall semester, recording a 3.29 cumulative GPA. That marks the best student-athlete cumulative GPA on record for the University and the 23rd consecutive semester St. Bonaventure student-athletes have posted a cumulative GPA over 3.0 – a run of over 11 straight years.
St. Bonaventure University cross country/track head coach Bob MacFarlane has announced the addition of four student-athletes – Jack Boltman, Ryan Chmiel, Mason Kimbell and Jacob Osswald – with the signing of National Letters of Intent to join the men’s program for the fall of 2017.
