Ana Sofia Cordero joined the St. Bonaventure University staff in January 2018, working with the men's and women's tennis teams as an assistant coach.

Cordero comes to Bonaventure with an impressive collegiate and international playing resume. During her college career at Southern Illinois University, Cordero served as a team captain while leading SIU to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship finals in each of the past two seasons.

During her time with the Salukis, Cordero led the team in singles victories as a junior with 23 wins during the 2015-16 season, then was a part of the squad’s leading doubles team as a senior in 2016-17. 

Cordero also represented her native Puerto Rico as a member of the International Tennis Federation World Fed Cup team five times, including making a run to the finals in 2016, teaming with WTA World Rank No. 33 Monica Puig. Cordero was Puerto Rico’s Pro Women’s Doubles Team Champion and single finalist from 2012-14 as well as in 2016.

Prior to spending two seasons at Southern Illinois, Cordero played her freshman and sophomore years at the University of North Texas.

An Honor Roll student at Southern Illinois, Cordero graduated May 2017 with a degree in fashion design and merchandising with a minor in marketing.
