ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure tennis programs have earned accolades from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Both the men's and the women's teams garnered ITA All-Academic Team honors. The Bona men carried a 3.531 cumulative GPA while the women's team posted a 3.430 for the past academic year.
Additionally, eight players received ITA All-Academic honors.
The Bonnies women's team also had four players receive all-academic honors: Kahlei Reisinger, Andrea Roque, Paula Velilla and Penelope Abreu.
To go along with the ITA honorees, the Bonnies recently had seven men's players and five women's players named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
All-Academic Team awards are handed out to programs that have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (4.00 scale) for a given school year. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 (4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
For the women's team, this year marks the fifth time being honored as an All-Academic team since 2012. Also, it is the second straight season the men's team has received recognition as an All-Academic team under the leadership of head coach Mike Bates.
