Bonnies Duo Attains All-Academic Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – St. Bonaventure University men's swimming seniors Maciej Danilewski and Tjaard Krusch have been selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, the conference announced Wednesday.

The senior duo each earn their second A-10 All-Academic Team honors of their careers with Danilewski garnering honors in 2018-19 and Krusch in 2019-20.

A native of Bialystok, Poland, Danilewski earned his bachelor's degree in accounting with a cumulative GPA of 3.69 and currently carries a 4.0 GPA in his professional accounting master's program. Danilewski was the recipient of the Austin Finan Award in Finance at graduation last month.

Danilewski played a key role in helping the Bonnies to a fifth-place finish at the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championships, winning a total of four medals. He brought home silver medals in the 200-Backstroke (1:44.28), 100-backstroke (47.64) and the 400-medley relay (3:15.32) as well as bronze in the 800-freestyle relay (6:39.54). Danilewski will return in the fall for his fifth season with the Bonnies.

Krusch, a native of Dorsheim, Germany, graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in Sports Studies and finished with a 3.72 GPA. A standout in the pool and in the classroom throughout his career, Krusch is also a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American.

This year at the Atlantic 10 Championships, Krusch won silver medals in the 100-butterfly (47.76) and 400-medley relay (3:15.32) while also winning bronze medals in the 200-backstroke (1:45.18) and 400-freestyle relay (2:58.68). Krusch finishes his Bonnies career with 12 total medals and holds the program record in the 200-IM, which he set at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Championships.
