Lowe Wins Bronze, Bonnies Remain In Third After Two Days At A-10 Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – William Lowe's bronze medal in the 50-freestyle highlighted the second day of Atlantic 10 Championships Thursday at the SPIRE Institute for the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team.

Lowe turned in a time of 20.38 in the 50-freestyle final to win the first individual medal of his career.

The Bonnies remain in third place after two days of competition with 189 points. George Washington sits atop the leaderboard with 274 points while George Mason is second with 195 points.

Down at George Mason in the 1-meter diving event, Michael Bruno earned the top qualifying score in the morning session with a score of 305.70. He followed his preliminary performance with a total score of 309.95 in the "A" Final, earning fourth place. Also placing on the 1-meter board was Lucas Dekaney who turned in a sixth-place finish, scoring a 277.95.

Matthew Bielobradek brought more points home for the Bonnies, finishing second in the "B" Final and 10th overall with a score of 261.50.

The Brown and White added a handful of points in the 200-IM with Tjaard Krusch placing fifth, turning in a time of 1:47.81. Finishing right behind him in the was Maciej Danilewski (1:48.54) and George Kalletta (1:48.54) in sixth and seventh-place, respectively.

Jason Green finished in 14th place in the 200-IM, clocking in at 1:51.80 in the "B" Final.

In the 500-freestyle, Alec Thomas posted a tome of 4:35.39 for 14th place while Joshua Bannon swam a 4:37.72 for 16th place in the consolation final.

Bona finished the night with a fourth-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay. Lowe teamed up with Kyle Gluck, Alec Thomas and Marcus Swartfager for a time of 1:21.77, missing a podium finish by .4 of a second.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday afternoon with preliminaries beginning at 12:15 p.m. The diving team will continue action at George Mason Friday afternoon with the 3-meter diving competition.
