ST. BONAVENTURE at NIAGARA
Friday, Jan. 31 – Diving 11:00 a.m./Swimming 1:30 p.m.
The St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team will head to Lewiston, N.Y. to take on Niagara Friday, Jan. 31 for the last tune-up ahead of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships. Diving will begin at 11:00 a.m. and swimming will commence at 1:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies last action came against Binghamton on Jan. 20 when they used 14 individual victories to celebrate a Senior Day win, 201-99, at the Reilly Center Pool. Senior Hylton Collinson paced the squad with three victories in the 100-breastroke, 200-breaststroke, and 400-IM. Junior Tjaard Krusch took first place in the 100- and 200-backstroke, along with leading the 200-freestyle relay team to victory. Junior Michael Bruno dominated on the diving boards, taking both the 1- and 3-meter dives with total scores of 301.425 and 297.52, respectively. Freshman Elias Petri grabbed two wins in the 1000- and 500-freestyle.
The Purple Eagles enter Friday's meet with a record of 1-5 in dual meets this season. In their last meet, Niagara suffered a loss to Canisius by a score of 182-86 on Jan. 18. Freshman Colin Lang won the 1-meter dive with a score of 216.98 and won the 3-meter dive with a score of 182.02. Edgar Melchor won the 200 IM, finishing the event in 1:59.12. The relay team of Stier, Alexander Jarski, Harry Fox and Nicholas Stoll won the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 3:37.72. Last season, the Purple Eagles came to the Reilly Center Pool for Senior Day where the Bonnies emerged victorious, 133-72.
The Bonnies finish out the season starting Wednesday, Feb. 19 when they begin the 2019 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships, a four-day event held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
