ST. BONAVENTURE vs. CANISIUS

The St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team will host the Canisius Golden Griffins at the Reilly Center Pool Friday afternoon for the first home meet of the season. Diving will start at 1:00 p.m. and swimming will take place at 4:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
This past Saturday, the Brown and White fell to Cornell, 202.5-95.5 despite senior Hylton Collinson bringing home a first-place finish along with two second-place efforts. Collinson grabbed first in the 200-breaststroke and finished second in both the 200-butterfly and the 200-IM. Senior Nick Burdo had a strong day as well, taking victory in the 100-freestyle and earning two third-place finishes in the 200-freestyle and 50-freestyle. On the diving boards, Matthew Bielobradek finished third in both the 3-meter dive and the 1-meter dive. Last season, the Bonnies defeated Canisius, 147-96, at Erie Community College thanks to a solid performance by then sophomore Tjaard Krusch.
The Golden Griffins enter Friday's meet with a record of 4-2 in dual meets this season. In their last meet, the Griffs suffered a loss to Binghamton by a score of 167-131 this past Saturday. Their second loss of the season came despite earning top scores in nine of the 14 events, with four different swimmers earning first place in individual events. Sophomore Liam O'Connell earned top scores in the 1,000-yard and 500-yard free, while fellow sophomore Kyle Kimerer took first in the 200-yard free event. Senior Kenyon Winkky earned top finishes after coming in first in the 100-yard backstroke and butterfly events. Junior Lucas Kennedy took first in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, while also placing second in the 100 IM.
The Bonnies are back in the pool Thursday, Nov. 21 on the road at the WVU Diving Invitational. The events will start on Thursday and conclude on Saturday. The swimming team is back in action Dec. 6-8 at the Zippy Invite in Akron, Ohio.
