Collinson, Burdo Guide Bonnies Against Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Hylton Collinson brought home a first-place finish along with two second-place efforts for the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team at Cornell Saturday afternoon. It was not enough, however, as the Big Red defeated the Bonnies, 202.5-95.5 in dual meet competition.

Collinson, who was coming off a solid performance last weekend at the Atlantic 10 Classic, grabbed first in the 200-breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:08.10. The Johannesburg, South Africa native also finished second in the 200-butterfly (1:56.12) and the 200-IM (1:57.23). 

Senior Nick Burdo had a strong day as well, taking victory in the 100-freestyle by ringing in at 47.82. He also earned two third-place finishes in the 200-freestyle (1:45.28) and 50-freestyle (21.88). 

Junior Maciej Danilewski brought home second in the 200-backstroke with a time of 1:53.60. He took third in the 1000-freestyle (10:08.46) and 200-IM (1:59.23) as well. 

Senior Joseph Malafronte grabbed a second-place finish in the 100-butterfly, touching the pad at 52.25.

In the 200-freestyle relay, William Lowe led teammates Alec Thomas, Marcus Swartfager, and Joseph Malafronte to second place with a time of 1:26.66. Jason Green guided Griffin Witte, Tomas Botero, and Joshua Bannon to third in the same event (1:32.46). 

The Bonnies also brought home a third-place finish in the 200-medley relay, led by junior Tjaard Krusch who touched the wall at 1:35.55. He was followed by teammates Hylton Collinson, Joseph Malafronte, and Nick Burdo. Krusch also finished third in the 100-backstroke with a time of 52.55.

On the diving boards, Matthew Bielobradek finished third in the 3-meter dive with a total score of 264.85. The sophomore also took third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 263.25.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday, Nov. 15 as they host Canisius for the first home meet of the season. Diving is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. while the swimming events will commence at 4:00 p.m. at the Reilly Center Pool.
