Bonnies In Third Place After Day One Of A-10 Championships


GENEVA, Ohio – Freshman Matthew Bielobradek's fourth-place finish in the 1-meter dive highlighted day one for the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team at the 2019 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships.

The Bonnies sit in third place in the team standings with 80. George Washington leads with 122 points and George Mason is second with 104 team points.

Bielobradek registered a mark of 273.20, just four points behind third. Sophomore Michael Bruno also qualified for the finals of the 1-meter dive, by tallying a total score of 246.45, finishing in eighth.

In the 200-medley relay to start the night, the team of Maciej Danilewski, Hylton Collinson, Chauncey Nicholas and Joseph Malafronte turned in a sixth-place time of 1:29.78.

David Shakhnazarov, Jake Ruffolo, Nick Burdo and John Pietrucha teamed up for the final event of the night in the 800-freestyle relay. The team clocked in at 6:38.48 to seize sixth-place.

Action resumes Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. for preliminary events.
