ATLANTIC 10 SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – With the dual meet season behind them, the focus of the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving program turns to the 2019 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships that begin Wednesday, Feb. 20 and run through Saturday, Feb. 23.

Sophomore Maciej Danilewski has turned in a strong season heading into the final meet. Danilewski has individual wins this season, winning the 500-freestyle once, the 1000-freestyle, the 100-backstroke and the 200-backstroke.

Along with a 133-72 win over Niagara on Feb. 2, the Bonnies also have a dual meet win over Little Three rival Canisius, 147-96, back on Nov. 10. The Bonnies opened the season by winning the Justin Jennings Memorial Invitational hosted by Colgate on Oct. 6.

Junior David Shakhnazarov has also impressed this season. The Tibisi, Georgia native has the top 50-freestyle time for the Bonnies this season, clocking in at 21.22 against Cornell on Jan. 21. That time qualified Shakhnazarov for the 2019 CSCAA National Invitational Championship held in mid-March. Also qualifying for the CSCAA NIC was freshman George Kalletta. He swam a 4:39.16 in the 500-freestyle at the Zippy Invite in December to qualify.

Tjaard Krusch and Danilewski hold the top two times in the 100-backstroke. Danilewski holds the top time at 50.40 and Krusch, last year's Most Outstanding Rookie sits at 50.66.

On the diving boards, sophomore Michael Bruno holds the top score on the 1-meter board for the Brown and White with a score of 273.00. Freshman Matthew Bielobradek sits atop the Bona leaderboard on the 3-meter dive, scoring a team-best 291.38 against Cornell on Jan. 21.

The Bonnies will be looking to bounce back from last year where they finished in sixth place. Last year's finish marked just the third time in the past 26 seasons that the team finished outside of the top three in the final team standings.
