BUFFALO – Matthew Bielobradek swept both diving competitions to help the St. Bonaventure University men's diving team capture first place at the UB Diving Invite held Jan. 11-13 at the Alumni Arena Natatorium.
The Bonnies earned 106 team points to secure the men's team title.
Bielobradek started off his strong weekend in the 3-meter dive. He posted a score of 289.55, easily winning the event. In the 1-meter dive, Bielobradek repeated with another first place finish, with a score of 261.40.
The Bonnies were able to sweep the top three podium spots in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Sophomore Michael Bruno grabbed second in the 1-meter dive (241.75) and the 3-meter dive (257.40). Johnathan Ek, also a freshman, grabbed third in both competitions. He scored a 233.10 in the 1-meter final and a 234.85 in the 3-meter final.
St. Bonaventure returns to action Monday, Jan. 21 when the Bonnies welcome Cornell to the Reilly Center Pool with the diving competition starting at 11:00 a.m.
