AKRON, Ohio – A second-place finish in the 200-breaststroke from Hylton Collinson lead the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming team on the final day of the Akron Zippy Invite.
The Bonnies finished the weekend competition third in the team standings with 1,308.5 team points. Oakland claimed the team crown with 2,376.5 total points while Bloomsburg was second at 1,528.5 team points for the three-day meet.
Collinson posted a time of 2:04.00 in the 200-breaststroke to secure the second place finish for the Brown and White. Also placing in the top-five for the Bonnies was sophomore Jason Green, who finished in fourth place with a time of 2:05.93.
John Pietrucha and George Kalletta added to the Bonnie's successful day in the pool with a fourth and fifth-place finish in the 200-backstroke. Pietrucha clocked in at 1:52.17 while Kalletta finished at 1:53.14.
In the 1650-freestyle to start the afternoon session, Ethan Carr posted an eighth-place finish with a time of 16:41.48.
Guido Balderrama brought home another top-five finish for the Bonnies in the 200-butterfly. He finished in 1:53.96, putting him in ninth place. Collinson capped off his day with a seventh place finish with a time of 1:58.80 in the 200-butterfly as well.
The Bonnies swimming team is off for the holidays and will return to action Sunday, Jan. 20 when they host Cornell at the Reilly Center Pool.
