Bonnies Travel To Akron For Zippy Invite

The St. Bonaventure University men's swimming team travels to Akron, Ohio for the annual Zippy Invite hosted by Akron University. The invitational is set up to imitate the Atlantic 10 Championships in February. Action begins Friday, Nov. 30 with preliminary races starting at 9:00 a.m. and the final heats beginning at 6:00 p.m. The same schedule will remain for Saturday, Dec. 1. The final day of the invite is Sunday, Dec. 2 with preliminary heats at 9:00 a.m. and the finals at 4:00 p.m.

The Bonnies last swam against Canisius on Nov. 10. Bona was victorious, 147-96, winning seven events. Tjaard Krusch won two events and Ethan Carr, David Shakhnazarov, Guido Balderrama and Nathan Howze each won one event. Also winning for the Bonnies was the 400-freestyle relay team consisting of Nick Burdo, Jake Ruffolo, Joseph Malafronte and Shakhnazarov. The Bonnies also won their first meet of the season at the Justin Jennings Memorial Invitational at Colgate University.

Four St. Bonaventure men's swimmers are competing at this year's Winter Nationals in Greensboro, N.C. David Shakhnazarov, Nick Burdo, Edward Donovan and Maciej Danilewski will all take the pool for the Bonnies in North Carolina.

The Bonnies men's swimming at diving team will take a break for the holidays until Friday, Jan. 11 when the diving team travels to the UB Diving Invite. Both teams return home Sunday, Jan. 20 when the Bonnies host Cornell at the Reilly Center Pool.
