ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Senior Preston Schilling and junior Jordan Powers of the St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team have been named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team.
The pair was awarded for their performances in the classroom and in the pool. A management major, Schilling has accumulated a GPA of 3.624 while Powers, a biochemistry major, has earned a 3.82 GPA.
The Louisville, Ky. native Schilling ended his career with a strong performance in the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships. With an NCAA 'B' cut time, Schilling broke a St. Bonaventure record with his second-place finishing time of 54.17 in the 100-breaststroke at the conference meet. He also finished third in the 200-breaststroke with a time of 1:59.98, and was a member of the 200-medley relay team that finished second at 1:29.12. Schilling also scored for the Bonnies in the 200-IM at 1:50.52 for 12th place.
Powers, a Lakewood, N.Y. native, was a member of two fourth-place finishing relay teams at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships: 200-freestyle relay (1:21.27) and 400-medley relay (3:18.39). He also scored in the 50-freestyle, finishing 12th at 20.88. Earlier this season, he swam a 46.99 against Niagara in the 100-free (1/28) and a 51.97 in the 100-butterfly at Buffalo (1/27).
"To be able to excel in the St. Bonaventure classroom and the pool speaks volumes to the skill sets that Preston and Jordan both possess," said head coach Sean McNamee. "This is a great way for Preston to finish his competitive career in the A-10, and we look forward to watching his continued ascent professionally."
