ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team will be in action for the first time in over a month in a dual meet at Binghamton on Saturday.
The Brown and White last competed in the three-day event at Akron from Dec. 2-4, finishing fifth out of eight teams with 648 points.
Senior Michael White earned three personal bests in Akron, including a 1:49.20 in the 200-IM for a second-place finish out of 24, which is the fastest anyone has swam the event in the Atlantic 10 this season. St. Bonaventure also saw strong performances in its relay events. The 200-freestyle relay team of David Shakhnazarov, Nick Burdo, Matt Taccard and Logan Hellwig finished eighth with a time of 1:24.58 while the 400-medley relay team of Taccard, Matt Goettler, White and Burdo finished ninth at 3:23.65.
Binghamton has earned wins in three of its first four meets, racing against common foes Niagara, Colgate and Canisius. Most recently, the Bearcats competed in the Bucknell Invitational (Dec. 4) and the Florida International Sprint Invitational (Jan. 9). In their last competition, Thomas Mackey led the way with three top-five finishes and one top-10 finish, including second in the 100-breast (1:00.21) and third in the 50-breast (28.11). On the diving board, Ryan O'Connel claimed first place in both the one-meter dive (242.05) and the three-meter dive (215.50).
