AKRON, Ohio – The St. Bonaventure University men's swimming and diving team ended the first day of action at the Akron Zippy Invite in sixth place with 206 points.
Michael White highlighted the Bonnies' first day with a 1:49.20 in the 200-IM, which was good for second place in the finals.
The Bonnies finished in the top 10 in both of the day's relay events. The 200-freestyle relay team of David Shakhnazarov, Nick Burdo, Matt Taccard and Logan Hellwig finished eighth with a time of 1:24.58 while the 400-medley relay team of Taccard, Matt Goettler, White and Burdo finished ninth at 3:23.65.
Ben Galinski was the lone Bonnie to compete in the finals of the 500-freestyle. He finished 13th at 4:39.28.
The Bonnies will resume action Saturday morning with preliminaries at 9:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m.
