ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -After a five-week hiatus and a week of training in Cocoa Beach, Florida, the St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team returns to the pool in a meet at Binghamton this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The Bonnies hope to repeat last years 188-112 victory against the Bearcats.
James Martin and Stephen Melchiorre earned first-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke, respectively. Martin touched in at 47.76 while Melchiorre recorded a time of 1:56.05.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Homerin grabbed a second-place finish for the Brown and White with a 9:48.64. Peter Koenig swam a 54.49 in the 100-yard backstroke, also earning second place.
Martin picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming a 1:44.96, while Michael Dansa earned third place with a 1:47.60.
The Brown and White are coming off a 153-89 victory against Canisius on Dec. 16.
In that meet, Homerin continued to dominate the field in the long distance events by picking up first-place finished in the 500-yard freestyle (4:51.94) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:58.90). Teammate Mike Hartwell finished just behind Homerin in both events, earning a time of 4:56.90 in the 500-yard freestyle and a 10:10.87 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
Mike Murphy continued his dominance of the board. In the 1-meter dive he earned first-place with a combined score of 287.70, while teammate Dominic Butts-Ealy finished in second-place (256.87). Murphy also took first, place in the 3-meter dive with a score of 310.57, and Butts-Ealy took second-place (209.25).
The team will then travel to Niagara on Jan. 28, to take on the Purple Eagles at 1:00 p.m.
