Bonnies Gear Up for Little Three Rival Canisius

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y.- The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team return to the Reilly Center pool after a week off to take on Little Three Rival Canisius Friday at 5:00 p.m.

The Diving portion of this meet took place at the Reilly Center Pool on Dec. 10.

The Bonnies plan to repeat last season's 171-72 defeat of the Golden Griffins.

In that meet, Yi Liu also had a record-setting day.  Liu broke the record for the 200-yard freestyle while participating in the 800-yard freestyle relay.  Liu's leadoff time of 1:45.45 broke the time of teammate, junior Mike Dansa. Dansa broke the existing record earlier in the night with a 1:45.74, taking first in the 200-yard freestyle event.

In diving action Mike Murphy took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.  Murphy scored 282.90 and 294.60, respectively, breaking the pool record in the 3-meter event. Dominic Butts-Ealy placed second in both diving events, earning 257.70 and 281.40 points, consecutively.

The Brown and White are coming off a fifth-place finish at the University of Akron Zippy Invitational two weeks ago.

During the weekend-long event, Elias Homerin finished in seventh-place in the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.85) and in 11th-place in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:31.02). He also finished in eighth-place in the 500-yard freestyle 'A' final, touching the wall with a time of 4:41.44.

In the 100-yard freestyle, James Martin finished in sixth-place touching the wall with a time of 46.47.

The Bonnies will then take a break from the pool for the holiday season. They dive back in at Binghamton on January 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
