AKRON, OHIO – The St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team currently hold fifth-place after day one at the University of Akron Zippy Invitation with an overall score of 249 points.
In the 50-yard freestyle, James Martin finished in eighth-place in the "A" final with an overall time of 21.43.
Elias Homerin finished in eighth-place in the 500-yard freestyle 'A' final, touching the wall with a time of 4:41.44.
In the 200-yard IM, Ripley Danner competed in the "B" final, where he finished in ninth-place with a time of 1:53.86
In relay actions, the men's team of Peter Koenig, Michael Burud, Nathan Destree, and Martin finished in seventh-place in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:27.74. And in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Burud, Destree, Danner and David Paccapaniccia finished in sixth-place with a time of 1:25.57.
The three-day competition continues tomorrow. The preliminary round begins at 9:00 a.m. and the finals start at 6:00 p.m.
