After Month Between Meets, Bonnies Return To Pool Friday

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - After more than a month between meets, the men's swimming and diving team jumps back into the Reilly Center Pool following the holiday break Friday afternoon at 1 against Binghamton.

Last season, the Bonnies defeated Binghamton, 132-109. In that meet, Yi Liu had first-place finishes in both the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard butterfly with times of 1:59.58 and 1:56.63, respectively. Dawid Kundzik (left) competed in the 50-yard freestyle where he notched a first-place finish with a time of 21.71.

In their last meet before the break, the Bonnies defeated Canisius, 171-72, and in the process broke five pool records at the Koessler Athletic Center. Sophomore Ethan Rowan added to his successful career, taking first place and breaking the pool record in the 500-yard freestyle event in a time of 4:45.66. He also took first in the 1000-yard freestyle, touching in at 9:47.45, seven seconds ahead of second-place finisher Shawn Parkhurst of Canisius (9:54.67).

In diving action, sophomore Mike Murphy took first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Murphy scored 282.90 and 294.60, respectively, breaking the pool record in the 3-meter event.

Following Friday's meet, the team will have a quick turnaround as it travels to State College, Pa. to meet Penn State Saturday at 1 p.m.
