AKRON, Ohio –After the second day of the Zippy Invitational the men's swimming and diving team remains in third place. Earning 938 points, they will fight to overtake second-place Xavier University, Sunday.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of seniors David Kundzik, Kevin Murphy and Chris Baker and junior Peter Koenig took third place in the 'A' final with a combined time of 1:33.29.
In individual events, Kundzik picked up a first-place finish in the 'A' final of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.93 while teammate, Baker, took fifth touching the wall at 51.03.
Sophomore Ethan Rowan placed third in the 'A' final of the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.80. Freshman James Martin and junior Mike Dansa took fifth and seventh in the 'A' final, swimming times of 1:44.02 and 1:44.55, respectively.
Murphy picked up a fourth- place finish for the Bonnies in the 100-yard breaststroke 'A' final, touching in at 59.01.
Koenig also placed in an individual event, taking fifth in the 'A' final of the 100-yard backstroke. He clocked a time of 52.57.
The team returns to the pool Sunday for the final day of the Zippy Invitational hosted by the University of Akron.
