AKRON, Ohio – After the first day of the Zippy Invitational, the men's swimming and diving team is in third place. Earning 390 points, it will fight to overtake second-place Xavier University on Saturday.
In relay action, the 200-yard freestyle team of seniors Dawid Kundzik, Chris Baker, Jared Robinson and freshman James Martin started off the meet with a second-place finish for the Brown and White. They swam a combined time of 1:23.99.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Kundzik, Murphy, James and sophomore Peter Koenig took third with a combined time of 3:27.44.
In the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Ethan Rowan grabbed another second-place finish, swimming a time of 4:39.17.
In the 200-yard IM, senior Kevin Murphy, Baker and junior Yi Liu took sixth, seventh and eighth places in the "A" finals, touching in at 1:56.32, 1:57.56 and 1:58.56, respectively.
Kundzik picked up another second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 21.02.
The team returns to the pool tomorrow for the second day of the Zippy Invitational hosted by the University of Akron.
