Men's Swimming Takes on Canisius and La Salle

BUFFALO, N.Y.  – The men's swimming and diving team took on Atlantic 10 rival La Salle and Little 3 rival Canisius Saturday afternoon at the Flickinger Aquatics Center at ECC. The Bonnies fell to La Salle, 168.5-165.5, but toppled Canisuis, 261-73.

Sophomore Ethan Rowan gave another powerhouse performance for the Brown and White, earning three individual firsts and sweeping the freestyle events.  In the 1,650-yard freestyle he swam a 16:13.71, touching in just before teammate and second-place finisher, sophomore Elias Homerin (16:40.18). In the 200-yard freestyle, Rowan touched in at 1:44.10 and then grabbed his third first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a 4:40.26.

Rowan was also part of the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay team. Freshman James Martin, Rowan, and seniors Chris Baker and Dawid Kundzik swam a combined time of 3:08.32 for the win.

In more relay action, Martin, Kundzik and Baker again teamed up for a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Together with teammate senior Jared Robinson they swam a 1:24.71, good for first place. Again, Kundzik and Martin, along with senior Kevin Murphy and junior Peter Koenig, grabbed yet another first-place finish for the Brown and White with a combined effort of 3:28.25 in the 400-yard medley relay team.

If three first-place team finishes weren't enough, Kundzik also picked up two individual wins in the 100-yard freestyle (46.64) and 100-yard butterfly (50.67).

In diving, sophomore Mike Murphy and freshman Dominic Butts-Ealy teamed up for the second meet in a row to clinch first-place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Murphy took the win in the 1-meter, earning 280.20 points, while Butts-Ealy dominated the 3-meter event with 286.25 points.

The Bonnies return to the pool to take on Cleveland State at the Reilly Center Pool on Nov. 13. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
