ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure junior Andy Garcia and sophomore Kevin Omokhua have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2004 Regional All-America team in the New York Region.
Garcia, a midfielder from Mississaugua, Ontario, was named to the New York Region First Team and is now eligible for All-America consideration. Omokhua was selected to the Third Team.
Garcia led the Bonnies in scoring with four goals and 10 assists for 18 points over 17 games. He led the Atlantic 10 in assists, ranked seventh in points. Last month, he was named to the All-Conference first team.
The recognition caps a comeback year for Garcia, who missed all but four games of the 2003 season due to a broken foot.
Omokua, a forward, tied for the team lead with five goals. The Brampton, Ontario, native added one assist for a total of 11 points over 18 games. Omokhua was previously named to the All-Conference second team.
St. Bonaventure posted a record of 8-9-1 overall, an improvement of six wins over the 2003 season, and finished eighth in the Atlantic 10 at 4-7.
