ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - - St. Bonaventure swept the Atlantic 10 Conference Soccer Player of the Week awards for the period that ended Sept. 6 as sophomore Kevin Omokhua was tabbed on the men's side and classmate Kerry O'Malley captured the women's citation. O'Malley and Omokhua both have led their teams to quick starts. The women are 3-1 and captured the championship of the Niagara Invitational Sept. 4-6, defeating Canisius 2-0 and Niagara 5-0. The St. Bonaventure men are unblemished at 3-0 with wins over Syracuse (2-1 in overtime), Loyola (3-2) and Bowling Green (4-1). Omokhua has three goals over the Bonnies' three games. Like O'Malley, he has tallied a pair of game-winning goals. His first came late in a 3-2, come-from-behind win over Loyola on Sept. 4. Omokhua then added a pair of goals against Bowling Green the following day as the Bonnies went 2-0 at Bowling Green's Kelme Classic. He was named to the All-Tournament team. O'Malley has already scored six goals and has two assists for 14 points over the Bonnies' four games. She scored the eventual game-winning goals against both Buffalo (Aug. 27) and Canisius. O'Malley, who transferred to St. Bonaventure last winter from Providence College, was named to the All-Tournament team at Niagara. The St. Bonaventure men will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 22nd-ranked Binghamton.
