KINGSTON, R.I. - St. Bonaventure came up with its most impressive outing of the year on Sunday, a 2-1 victory at 21st-ranked Rhode Island that kept the Bonnies' slim Atlantic 10 playoff hopes alive.

The Bonnies jumped on the board in the 12th minute on a goal from freshman midfielder Jon Lopez. Sophomore forward Kevin Omokhua assisted Lopez's breakaway shot.

Rhode Island's Sasha Gotsmanov netted the Rams' lone goal in the 47th minute of action.

Omokhua, however, put the game-winning goal past Rhode Island keeper Dean Ruddy in the 63rd minute off a pass from Lopez.

Bona rookie keeper Jonathan Blanchard, who was again playing in relief of injured senior Sean Eyde, tallied seven saves. The Rams outshot the Bonnies 25-10, including 16-4 in the second period.

The win evened the Bonnies' record at 8-8-1 overall and moved them to 4-6 in Atlantic 10 play. The Rams, who were ranked 21st in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 poll, dropped to 10-7-1 overall and 5-4-1 in conference action.

St. Bonaventure closes out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 6, against Duquesne at McGraw-Jennings Field at 1 p.m.
