LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Joshua Pulla scored in his third consecutive game, but the St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to Bucknell, 2-1, after a late Bison goal Sunday evening.
The Bison (2-3) took control of the contest from the opening whistle, outshooting the Bonnies 13-0 in the first half, but Bona's was able to withstand the charge before the hosts finally broke through in the 32nd minute on a Jordan Miller goal.
The Bonnies, however, were able to even the ledger just 10 minutes into the second half as Fredrik Hansen played Pulla through behind the Bison defense and the junior forward smashed home the left-footed shot, tying the score at 1-1 with his third goal of the season.
Later in the second half, Pulla created an opportunity in the box as the Bonnies threatened, but his shot sailed just tall over the net.
With overtime looming late in the game, the Bison were awarded a corner kick in the 85th minute which was swung in and headed home by Eddie Perez-Pelaez, sending Bucknell home victors, 2-1.
Trevor Wilson made his first start of the season in net for the Bonnies, tallying seven saves in the contest. Pulla finished the game with three shots to lead the Bonnies.
The Bonnies (0-3-1) return home to face Little Three rival Niagara Wednesday, Sept. 15 at the Marra Athletics Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
