CLEVELAND – Matthew Wrobel and Joshua Pulla both netted goals, but the St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell at Cleveland State, 3-2, on a late, second half goal Tuesday evening.

Wrobel opened the scoring in the 15th minute, heading in a goal off a rebound from the Bonnies fourth corner kick in the opening minutes. Mattia Ferretti was credited with the assist, his first points of his collegiate career.

Wrobel, a freshman forward, now has three goals in his first three collegiate games.

Cleveland State (1-3-0), however, quickly answered. Pablo Kawecki got the Vikings on the board in the 24th minute, tying the game at 1-1.

Following a Cleveland State turnover in the 34th minute, Wrobel played a one-touch pass back to Francesco Caorsi who, in-stride found Pulla over the top of the defense and the junior smashed home the Bonnies' second goal of the game, giving the visitors a 2-1 edge into halftime.

The Vikings knotted the score at 2-2 in the 47th minute on a goal from Jannis Schmidt, taking early control in the second half.

With overtime on the horizon, Kawecki found the back of the net in the 82nd minute, giving the Cleveland State a 3-2 advantage.

Cleveland State would run out the clock to secure the victory.

Justyn Sandhu finished the night with a season-high eight saves in net for the Brown and White. Wrobel and Pulla finished with three shots each while Fredrik Hansen had two chances.

The Bonnies (0-2-1) were narrowly outshot by the Vikings, 13-11.

The Bonnies are back in action Sunday, Sept. 12 on the road at Bucknell. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
