The Bonnies finished the spring season with an overall record of 4-4-1 and were 1-4-1 in Atlantic 10 play. Head coach Kwame Oduro returns 23 players from last year's team and welcomes 10 newcomers to the squad for the fall season. The Bonnies will play 16 contests overall, returning to a regular Atlantic 10 schedule. Last season, the A-10 was broken into three divisions due to the pandemic it which the Bonnies battled against Duquesne, Dayton and Saint Louis. Bona's will play an eight-game Atlantic 10 schedule with the top eight teams advancing to the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Fredrik Hansen is the leading returning scorer, returning in the midfield for the Bonnies after scoring three goals last season. The Bonnies return nine players from the 2021 spring season that started at least seven games.
ABOUT SAINT FRANCIS
Saint Francis enters Thursday's contest having not played a counted contest since Nov. 15, 2019 when the Red Flash fell to Fairleigh Dickinson in penalties in the NEC Finals, finishing with an overall record of 10-5-1. SFU was picked to finish third in the 2021 NEC Preseason Poll.
The Bonnies and the Red Flash played last season, however, though the game counted as an exhibition for Saint Francis. St. Bonaventure came out on top of that contest, 3-2, with John Engerman scored a game-winning goal in the 89th minute.
Binghamton is set to open its season Thursday against Colgate before hosting the Bonnies Monday evening in Vestal, N.Y. Binghamton finished last year with an overall record of 2-4, having tallied wins against Albany and UMBC. The Bearcats were picked to finish ninth in the 2021 America East Preseason Poll. P.J. Parker returns in net for the Bearcats, playing in five games and making three starts last season.
Bona's and the Bearcats last met during the 2015 season with the two sides battling to a 0-0 double overtime draw.
The Bonnies return home to make their 2021 home debut Friday, Sept. 3 against Little Three rival Canisius. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
