Engerman To Represent U.S. Virgin Islands National Team

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University men's soccer sophomore defender John Engerman has been selected to train and compete for the U.S. Virgin Islands National Team.

Engerman will join the USVI National Team as they prepare for CONCACAF Qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

A native of St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, Engerman will be away from the Bonnies from March 19-March 31. During that two-week span, Engerman will have the chance to compete against Antigua and Barbuda on March 27 and Grenada on March 30 in World Cup Qualifier Group Stage games.

"We are happy for John and his chance to represent his country," head coach Kwame Oduro said. "We wish him all the best."

Engerman has played in 19 games since joining the Bonnies men's soccer program last season. He recently scored the first goal of his collegiate career, a game-winning score against St. Francis (Pa.) on March 7.
