ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell, 2-0, to La Salle in Saturday night's season finale at the Marra Athletics Complex.
Nigel Buckley put La Salle up 1-0 early, scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute.
Just a few moments later in the 15th minute, the hosts were awarded a penalty kick try, but the Bonnies could not convert the opportunity as the shot attempt sailed just wide of the post.
Freshman Joshua Pulla had a chance to tie the game in the 35th minute as he created enough space for a shot but sent it just left of the net.
La Salle (8-8-1, 4-4 Atlantic 10) took the 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
Pat McCarthy gave the Explorers an insurance goal on a converted penalty kick in the 78th minute.
That would be all the Explorers would need to secure the victory over the Bonnies (5-11, 1-7).
Freshman Justyn Sandhu made seven second half saves and eight overall on the night. Pulla led the Bona offense with three shots.
